10th Day of Green Corn Moon (2017)
(10 kiišiinkwia kiilhswa (2017))

Today, it’s a little hot (85) and sunny in the Great Miami River Valley. Tonight, it might thunderstorm and rain.
(noonki kaahkiihkwe tikawi ceeliteeki (85) aahsanteeki ahsenisiipionki. meemeekwa-hka kati ciinkwia pyaaci piitilaanwi noonki peehkonteeki.)

Tonight, the moon was just half full (waxing).
(noonki peehkonteeki kiinte napale waawiyiisita (keešaakosita).)

What’s the weather like where you’re at?

it is so hot here. I miss Indiana, here is a poem for you:

    The stories are kept
    sometimes wordless in my heart
    living stories here
they will speak through sun and moon
    Mother Earth and the waters

    I can hear whispers
    in a stream so faraway
    calling me back home
    the ancestors come visit
    we emerged from the river

    some say Canada
but we came out of water
we are life of the river
we met up with mound builders
    not really so long ago

    We’re tattoo people
    stories written upon us
    we carry them here
    invisible tattoos now
    they didn’t understand us

    we see the tattoos
    written across our bodies
    they appear in time
just now they show me the way
just now they whisper my name
